Taco Gosens, MD
Orthopaedic Surgeon Elisabeth Tweesteden Hospital Tilburg, NETHERLANDS
After receiving orthopaedic training by E. van Langelaan, A. Tonino and R. Geesink, Dr. Gosens completed a fellowship in upper limb surgery in Nottingham, England, under the supervision of A. Wallace.
Since January 2004, Dr. Gosens has run a general orthopaedic and traumatologic practice in a large teaching hospital in the Netherlands, associated with six other orthopaedic surgeons. In this group, the subspecialty division is such that Dr. Gosens is co-responsible for training the residents and responsible for the clinical orthopaedic research program, next to running an upper limb surgery practice.
Apart from the interest and research projects in upper limb surgery and hip resurfacing, the biological treatment of tendon injuries takes up a large part of the sports medicine practice and research effort.
Multiple papers on international and national congresses were presented on the topic of the use of platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections in tennis elbows. Today, Dr. Gosens is conducting a multi-center randomized controlled trial on the use of PRP in plantar fasciitis
