Nicolás Fiz, MD

Dr. Nicolás Fiz studied medicine at the University of Navarre, graduating in 2002. He specialized in Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery at Santiago Hospital in Vitora-Gasteiz, Spain. During his residence there, worked for Dr. Mikel Sánchez’s Arthroscopic Surgery Unit. In 2007, Dr. Fiz completed his training at the New York Hospital for Special Surgery, focusing mainly on hip pathology.
From 2008, on Dr. Fiz worked in Traumatology service at Santiago Apostol Hospital, Vitoria-Gasteiz, and joined Dr. Mikel Sánchez’s team.
Later, in 2010, he took on a full-time role at the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit (UCA) and the Biological Therapy Unit (UTB). He plays an active part in developing PRP technology for different diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system. He works together with the Biotechnology Institute (BTI) research team on animal experimentation work. In 2009, in partnership with Dr. Jorge Guadilla, he created the Hip Unit within the Arthroscopic Surgery Unit. Throughout his career, he has taken part in different congresses and scientific meetings. He has co-authored different papers gaining international recognition. He is a member of SECOT, the Spanish Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Society.
