TOBI Faculty Publications: January 2017

January 2017, Stem Cells and Development Autologous and Allogeneic Equine Mesenchymal Stem Cells Exhibit Equivalent Immunomodulatory Properties In Vitro. TOBI Faculty C. Wayne McIlwraith, MD, published this study evaluating different methods of modulating inflammatory processes related to acute or chronic musculoskeletal injuries in the horse. They conducted studies to assess the immunological properties of equine allogeneic BMDMSCs compared with those of autologous BMDMSCs. For assessment of inherent immunogenicity, the relative ability of allogeneic and autologous BMDMSCs to stimulate spontaneous proliferation of equine lymphocytes...

End of the Year Wrap-Up: Studies in Regenerative Medicine by TOBI Faculty, October – December 2016

DECEMBER December 2016, Journal of Experimental Orthopedics The effect of foot landing position on biomechanical risk factors associated with anterior cruciate ligament injury. Stanford-based TOBI Speaker and Faculty Jason L. Dragoo published this study, which examines the effect of foot landing postion on risk factors associated with anterior cruciate ligament injury. They concluded that toe-in landing position exacerbates biomechanical risk factors associated with ACL injury, while toe-out landing position decreases these factors. See the full study here. December 2016, American Journal of Sports Medicine The...
